What is really meant by the term ‘trading time for money?’ Well I’m sure it is a concept that is not discussed enough. No one ever told me about finding a way to work less, but get paid more. My world as with many other people is about getting paid for the hours worked – regardless whether or not one is actually performing. So now is the time to learn great strategies of marketing.

To understand the concept of leveraging time v money, then one needs to have a totally different outlook on how to earn a living. My bet, whilst reading this, you would like the idea of working less and being paid more. The question is whether this is feasible against a backdrop of traditional schooling leading into our working lives.

There are many opportunities around us all the time to work less and be paid more. You may just not have recognised them. For instance, it may take a year for an author to write a book. But what if this book becomes a best seller and in published in many languages. The author could live on the royalties alone. In this case, do something once, and replicate and sell many times over. Once written, the book will make money for the author even whilst sleeping or even when on a holiday.

There are many examples I can bring to this article, but would not be exhaustive.

Did you know the internet is a great way to leverage your time to earn an income and is available to anyone plugged into the internet portal. Come up with an idea, product or service you can sell over the internet, automate the marketing and sales and away you go. So mastering the power of the internet to advertise and market a business can without doubt save you time. You just need to know how and what.

Here is an idea. What if you came up with something, say a great eBook, a great musical song, secrets revealed for some sought after information etc that someone is prepared to pay $1 for. Advertise big time and distribute this through a large number of ways on the internet using paid, low cost and free advertising methods. Once out there, it works 24/7 and can be seen all over the world. Aim to be on the first pages of the search engines, be appearing on numerous sites as well as videos and podcasts.

The system could even be automated if the product or service can be sent via the internet once someone has paid. This not only avoids delivery costs, but negates you having to do something. So automation is good. Imagine over time whilst doing your own things that a million people purchased your $1 product. Is this life changing? Have you leveraged time v money? Agree it is made to sound so easy, but come up with a great e-product, become a skilled internet marketer, allow yourself to learn and grow and the rewards will be forthcoming. Producing a great looking web site or ad is semantics and driving traffic and getting people to buy is an art and both require elements of skill and visualisation. These ads appear at the top and down the right hand side of the search engines.

The ad should ideally take the searcher to a landing page, web site or blog that contains your offer. Remember this is a paid strategy so you will be looking for a return on your investment.

2. Article Marketing

Article marketing, or blog posts, is like writing a short story. Make it useful and compelling and people will read it. These are generally to provide information, hints and tips or even news. At the end of the article you need to provide a link directing the reader where you would like then to go next.

Your article needs to contain at least 500 words which is about an A4 page of text and submit this to a whole host of article directories being careful with those that look for duplicate content. This is easy and great for beginners.

To make this work will require writing a serious amount of articles to get the level of exposure. Writing one or two will not do it.

The advantage of article writing is that it is free and your content will remain out on the net for some time, unlike paid advertising which stops once you stop paying.

3. Social Media

Social media has taken over by storm. Most people will be familiar with social media for social reasons, but these places can also be used to market your business.

Using the social media route is a good place to be when starting out marketing on the internet. Even large companies are doing this. There are many social media sites one can go to.

It is probably worth starting out with the most popular social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. Try and ensure when you set up your account to use the same account name as these can not be rectified afterwards. This helps with branding.

Be careful with this method of advertising. Remember these are social platforms and the last thing people want to see is a load of ads appearing all the time. Social media is about getting people engaged with you, pulling people to you. Once these people are following you can you start to push out your offers.

4. Content production

Content production is about other methods to provide ads out on the internet through low cost or free marketing. These ads appear beneath the paid ads within the search engines.

Another great medium to use is video marketing. Produce a great video and post this on say YouTube. Again make sure you have the right keywords/tags so the searches can find your master piece.

Performing in business comes down to people – you and me. Being committed is a key ingredient and sparks action. Commitments, when made with integrity, break the performance barriers in which you may be lacking at this point in time.

If you have ever considered building a home based income opportunity, whether part time or full time, how do you ensure you firstly maximise your potential and secondly how do you ensure you stay focused in order to get results. Remember, building a business takes time and commitment. Saying this, it does not mean it can’t be fun and exciting at the same time.

1. Getting out of the stand

Make the obstacles a condition of the game.

4. Share your myths to break through the performance barrier.

Allow others to participate in what you experience. Many have an aversion to share and this may be from childhood.

The more you share your experiences and the more you make your commitments public, the more you will get back. Ideas shared grow and spread. Keep it simple.

So who do you share with; it is with the people that matter to you and people who you would like to win as well.

What do you see when you share? Simply that others take on performance issues with you – to form a network.

5. Find the right coaching.

Another role, the coach, is not in the stand and not playing in the field. What does the coach really do? Well the coach directs, motivates the team – provide actions to correlate with winning the game.

Who is your coach? Mastermind with people who know what they are talking about.

6. Stop following your past in the past.

Many can’t leave the past behind. We make mistakes and errors and we file these as lessons learned so that we don’t make the mistakes again. Past failures bring fear and makes one more cautious and less susceptible to take risks. Here is a suggestion. Forget the past. Start afresh. Let’s not write guidelines for the future. Let’s build a new one.

It’s not about a future designed to fix your problems; it’s about a future designed to make a difference to you and others.

7. Play the game as if your life depended on it.

Stay focused and motivated to win the game. Change your perspective and conversations to be positive, inspirational and passionate. This will bring less resistance, but encourages performance.

Now you are back in the game and in a game to win. Don’t be a spectator, accept change, deal with and take risks, inspire others to follow, mastermind with leaders, look forward, stay focused and give your business everything it deserves. There are no circumstances in business or in life that you can’t handle from this perspective. It does not matter how many hurdles you jump, unfamiliar territories you cross or challenges you face, be proud in the fact you’re ready to play the game passionately, intently and fearlessly.
